The West Bengali province’s Kalyani University Act of 1960 created the university on November 1st, 1960. Being a state university, Kalyani University’s operations are governed by the Govt. of Western Bengal’s Kalyani University Act, 1981 (as amended until 2001).
The “Statements,” “Orders,” “Regulations,” and “Rules” add to this Act. The Kalyani University (Temporary Suppression) Act, 1978, which superseded The Kalyani University Act, 1960, was superseded by this practice. The university received mandate recognition from the University Grants Commission.
The University of Kalyani received an A grade from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 2016.
