The University of Calcutta is a combined public research university situated in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. It is also known unofficially as Calcutta University or simply as CU. It was the first of Western Asia’s several centers and routes when it was established on January 24, 1857. These days, university power is restricted to a few areas in West Bengal. Within India, it is known as the “Five-Star University” and is accredited to grade “A” by the National Examination and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The University Grants Commission (UGC) has designated the University of Calcutta as a “University with potential to excellence” and as a “Center with Potential for Excellence in Particular Area.”
There are fourteen campuses of the institution, all located around Kolkata and its surroundings. By 2020, it will have 21 institutions and 151 colleges connected with it. The Department of Human Resource Development in the Government of India’s National Institutional Ranking Framework announced the Indian University Ranking 2020, with the university coming in at number seven.
Campus:
The university is dispersed around Kolkata and the surrounding areas on 14 campuses. They go by the name Sikhsa Prangan, which translates to “educational place.” Some of the major campuses include the Sahid Khudiram Siksha Prangan in Alipore, Rashbehari Shiksha Prangan, also known as Science College, in Rajabazar, Taraknath Palit Shiksha Prangan in Ballygunge, and the Central Campus (Ashutosh Shiksha Prangan) on College Street.
