The campus of Guru Nanak Dev University is situated opposite to Khalsa College on 500 acres (200 ha) next to Kot Khalsa. It is eight kilometers (5.0 mi) west of Amritsar on the Amritsar-Lahore highway. The institution bears the name of Guru Nanak Dev, the first Sikh Guru, and was established in 1969. With more than 20,000 students, it provides a variety of graduate, undergraduate, and postgraduate degrees.
